Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH)
Green Contract Services recognise the need to ensure that substances used by the company may be hazardous to a persons health and that they are assessed to ensure that adequate measures are in place to control any risks that may exist.
MSDS are documents describing the known hazards associated with a material, indicating safe handling procedures and recommending responses to accidents and thus are invaluable sources of safety information. If you have the chemical but the MSDS is lost or the material is so old that none came with it, most manufacturers are happy to send a relevant MSDS on request
MSDS are available from our head office, please call 01270 760379 or Contact Us to request relevant copies.
A typical MSDS will contain the chemical name and its CAS number (Chemical Abstracts Service Number), perhaps some other identifying number, a product code and the name of the supplier. If the material is a mixture, its composition will be given.
Hazardous information will typically outline the main hazards of the material followed by fire fighting measures, first aid measures, accidental release, handling and storage precautions, how stable is the material and what protective clothing to wear.
