Project Background

The client needed to comply with Regulation 4 of The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2006 – The Management of Materials Containing Asbestos in Non-domestic Premises. The client had a large multi-building site used for a number of different purposes with the potential for asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) to be present throughout.

The Solution

Green Contract Services undertook a survey of all areas of the site to identify the presence of ACMs and compiled the results onto an electronic register that allowed the client to instantly identify if ACMs were present in any given location.

This allowed the client to identify asbestos-containing areas prior to any maintenance or re-furbishment works it needed to undertake. We then produced a series of recommendations from which we produced a Management Action Plan to, where required, remove, encapsulate, label and monitor the identified ACMs.

Where the removal of ACMs was recommended this was discussed and agreed with the client. We then carried out the removal, arranged for an independent company to carry out the air clearance and arranged for the disposal of the waste, both in line with current legislation.

Annual re- inspections of remaining ACMs are now undertaken and the electronic register is updated with these results.
